Longtime lurker here, I'm retired and With a population of 37,544, Carpentersville is a smaller city. Median household income is $86,327, which feels pretty solid for the area. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Is this normal for Carpentersville?

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The housing market is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Eastside area are challenging. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Uptown for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The traffic scene is tough
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..
