OK so I'm a teacher here and Poverty rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Is this normal for Carpinteria? The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services.
