Been living here since 2013. With a population of 21,170, Carrboro is a small town. The median home value here is around $507,100, which is pretty steep. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I wrong here? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Denver about 8 years ago. The main reasons were school and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is improving.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Definitely worth checking out..
