Household incomes average around $99,115 in Carrollton. It's a a mid-size city city with about 133K people. The suburbs are where most families end up. Anyone in a similar situation? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I've lived in Downtown for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
- The cultural scene scene is average
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Phoenix about 5 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely solid and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Downtown) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
