Any advice would be great. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a teacher, 25, moved here 8 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Oak Park and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Limited shopping options
3. The cultural scene situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Oak Park: Great for singles. average vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $50K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Portland about 11 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is excellent.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Baltimore about 9 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is underrated.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Sunset for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Active local events and festivals
- The nightlife scene is improving
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely pretty good and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (West) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
