Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 14 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Dallas about 11 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Definitely worth checking out..
