Been living here since 2014. With a population of 35,645, Carrollwood is a smaller city. Average temperature is around 73--F, so it's warm year-round. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I overthinking this? Appreciate any input. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely challenging and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (West) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in tech here and it exceeded my expectations. The job market for my field is excellent. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in South for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Close to major attractions
- The job market scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Bought a house here in 2020 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Raleigh about 12 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Feel free to reach out with questions..
