What surprised you most about Carson?

Longtime lurker here, It's a a smaller city city with about 93,523 people. Poverty rate is 6.3%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Carson sits at 482.9 per 100K. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Growing food scene
- Low crime in most areas
- Good schools
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- High property taxes
- Homelessness issues downtown
- Not enough green space
Does this match your experience? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.
