Curious what people think. We're a young couple and Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. The median home value here is around $645,600, which is pretty steep. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Does this match your experience? Looking forward to hearing from you all. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The healthcare is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from LA about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Lakewood for 12 years. Moved from Atlanta for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Dating scene is rough. And food scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 7/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
