Carson City quality of life -am I missing something?
Not sure if this has been asked before, but I work in healthcare and The median home value here is around $426,700, which is pretty steep. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Has anyone dealt with this? Cheers. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Lakewood area are solid. Kids love it here.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

I work in education here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is improving. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value public transit, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely underrated and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (East) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
