Is it worth buying in Carson?

First post here. Rent is about $955/month for a decent place. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 5 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The nightlife is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Old Town) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
