Best coffee shops in Cary?

Random thought, Poverty rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Bought a house here in 2023 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from New York about 11 years ago. The main reasons were weather and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 33, moved here 7 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in Fairview and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Homeless population growing downtown
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The outdoor recreation situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for singles. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2021 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Boston about 13 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.
