Cary in the winter — how bad?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a teacher here and You can expect to pay around $1,621 for rent here. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What are your go-to spots? The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 33, moved here 9 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Limited shopping options
3. The school system situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for families. decent vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $50K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
