Is Cary a good place to live?

My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $525,200 on average. With a population of 177K, Cary is a mid-size city. You can expect to pay around $1,621 for rent here. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Pros:
- Low taxes
- Good internet infrastructure
- Plenty of shopping options
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Hot summers
- Cold winters
- Far from major airports
People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely underrated and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
