Most overrated things about Cary

Random thought, Born and raised here. Rent is about $1,621/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $1,621 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 13 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Bought a house here in 2021 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.
