Remote worker thinking about Casa de Oro-Mount Helix

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a 33-year-old teacher and Rent is about $1,970/month for a decent place. It's a a small town city with about 19,651 people. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What are your go-to spots?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 7 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I've lived in Uptown for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- The walkability scene is tough

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Rising rent and home prices

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. No regrets on my end..
