First post here. I've been here for 18 years and Homes are going for about $258,200 on average. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much established but now it's underrated.

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great craft beer places. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in East for 10 years. Moved from New York for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Property taxes are high. And walkability can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 6/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor recreation is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..
