What I wish I knew before living in Casas Adobes

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I relocated for work and The median home value here is around $311,100, which seems about average. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Is this normal for Casas Adobes?

I've lived in Uptown for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The food scene scene is decent

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a project manager, 35, moved here 8 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Fairview and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The outdoor recreation situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for singles. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Baltimore about 5 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Eastside for 11 years. Moved from Seattle for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Eastside schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Can feel isolated. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 8/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Phoenix about 13 years ago. The main reasons were work and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is solid.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely solid and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in West. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in construction. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Definitely worth checking out..
