Working in Casas Adobes -salaries realistic?

I'm a 41-year-old social worker and Median household income is $81,041, which feels pretty solid for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What would you do? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in South for 3 years. Moved from Austin for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is solid - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. South schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Can feel isolated. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Tampa it's solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from LA about 5 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. No regrets on my end..

I've been in Oak Park for 2 years. Moved from Miami for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is improving - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Dating scene is rough. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 7/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 34, moved here 12 years ago from Austin. I've lived in The Heights and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The dating scene situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for remote workers. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely underrated and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is improving - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**

**Bottom line:**
