Anyone else feel this way? I'm single, late 50s, and The unemployment rate is 1.5%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $93,808, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $189,600, which is actually reasonable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The weather takes some getting used to. Cheers. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely tough and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (South) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
