Is public transit usable in Casper?

OK so I'm originally from Chicago and Household incomes average around $69,171 in Casper. Poverty rate is 8.4%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $964/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Worth the trade-offs? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The housing market is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely better than expected and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Westside) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2021 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 3 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Highland for 8 years. Moved from Denver for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Limited high-paying job options. And healthcare can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Sunset for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The outdoor recreation scene is improving

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for work and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The housing market is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
