First post here. Been living here since 2013. Rent is about $2,128/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 5.4%, which is pretty low. It's a a small town city with about 12,573 people. The median home value here is around $827,900, which is pretty steep. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I overthinking this? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much manageable but now it's better than expected.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much reasonable but now it's underrated.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Greenfield. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in legal. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 25, moved here 5 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Sunset and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good schools in most areas
3. Nice parks and green spaces
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The healthcare situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for remote workers. decent vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $50K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
