Life in Castle Point as a young professional

So, Crime rate is something to consider -Castle Point sits at 451.2 per 100K. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What would you do? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Charlotte about 13 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The cost of living scene is tough

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for young professionals. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'm a pharmacist and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is tough and there's always something going on.
