The city has invested a lot in new development. What would you do? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Charlotte it's excellent.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely underrated and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is traffic. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much competitive but now it's hit or miss.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
