Planning a move to Castle Rock -neighborhoods?

Hey folks, Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. You can expect to pay around $1,946 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Anyone in a similar situation? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

I work in healthcare here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is decent. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in finance. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 51, moved here 14 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Midtown and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Property taxes are high
3. The school system situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for young professionals. tough vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $70K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Boston it's hit or miss.
