Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Baltimore about 6 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is solid.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much wild but now it's decent.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely solid and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely decent and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
