Freelancing from Castro Valley -experience?

OK so Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Should I be concerned? The suburbs are where most families end up.

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The cultural scene is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is school system. Other than that, Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is excellent in most areas.

I've lived in West for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
- The school system scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

I'm a teacher and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.
