We have two kids and Crime rate is something to consider -Cathedral City sits at 260.2 per 100K. Homes are going for about $420,700 on average. The median home value here is around $420,700, which is pretty steep. With a population of 52,047, Cathedral City is a smaller city. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Am I wrong here? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Pine Hills. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in retail. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Old Town) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely better than expected and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (North) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
