Rent in Cave Spring getting crazy

First post here. Military spouse here. Poverty rate is 4.6%, which is pretty low. It's a a smaller city city with about 26,014 people. Median household income is $85,314, which feels pretty solid for the area. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I'm a pharmacist and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in North for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- The healthcare scene is average

The downsides:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 10 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Houston it's hit or miss.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from San Francisco about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is challenging.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 36, moved here 6 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in North and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Limited shopping options
3. The healthcare situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for families. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $40K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
