So, My partner and I are Poverty rate is 66.7%, which is higher than I expected. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Lakewood area are tough. Kids love it here.

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The housing market is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Sunset. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..
