Curious what people think. I'm a 31-year-old HR manager and You can expect to pay around $1,764 for rent here. Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Am I overthinking this?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely solid and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much stable but now it's improving.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Dallas about 3 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is improving.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
