What Cedar Mill does better than anywhere else

Random thought, I relocated for work and Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. You can expect to pay around $1,780 for rent here. Rent is about $1,780/month for a decent place. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Pros:
- Close to nature
- Easy commute
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Sprawl everywhere
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Limited cultural events
Has anyone dealt with this? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in West. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in finance. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'm a writer and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from Miami about 13 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Close to major attractions
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I work in tech here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is tough. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.
