Been meaning to ask this. I'm originally from Pittsburgh and Average temperature is around 53°F, so expect cold winters. It's a a mid-size city city with about 137K people. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Thanks in advance! Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's not perfect but it works for me. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely decent and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Highland) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
