Moving from Kansas City to Cedaredge next month

Hello, I've been here for 1 years and Homes are going for about $240,300 on average. Poverty rate is 21.5%, which is higher than I expected. Median household income is $41,944, which feels on the lower side for the area. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. What do you all think? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from San Diego about 3 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
