Cheapest neighborhoods in Center?

So, Military spouse here. The unemployment rate is 6.0%, which is about average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Looking forward to hearing from you all. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.

Moved here from Atlanta about 4 years ago. I genuinely enjoy living here. Still getting used to cost of living but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Used to live on the East side, now on the South side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 29, moved here 1 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in East and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The weather situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for remote workers. improving vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Eastside for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
- The cost of living scene is tough

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.
