Random thought, With a population of 8,448, Center Line is a small town. The city has invested a lot in new development. What neighborhoods would you suggest? It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 11 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a real estate agent, 40, moved here 9 years ago from LA. I've lived in Uptown and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The pet-friendliness situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for singles. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
