First post here. I'm a college student here and Poverty rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Should I be concerned? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from San Diego about 2 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Feel free to reach out with questions..
