Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely excellent and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely challenging and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely tough and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (West) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely excellent and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Eastside) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much wild but now it's decent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Denver about 6 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Westside for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The walkability scene is decent

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in retail. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in retail. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Korean.

No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
