Centerville in the winter -how bad?

First post here. I'm single, late 40s, and It's a a small town city with about 5,377 people. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Baltimore about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
