Centerville is underrated, change my mind

Random thought, Military spouse here. With a population of 16,692, Centerville is a small town. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What would you do? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Lakewood. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Greenfield for 1 years. Moved from Atlanta for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Nightlife is limited. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 5/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
