Been meaning to ask this. Just moved here 11 months ago and The median home value here is around $405,000, which is pretty steep. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I'm a real estate agent and I've found I love the pace of life here. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I've lived in Springfield for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions
- The nightlife scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..
