Hey, I'm a teacher here and The median home value here is around $270,700, which seems about average. Crime rate is something to consider -Central sits at 809.4 per 100K. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Would love some local perspective. Thanks in advance!

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 13 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
