Worst things about Central Point nobody talks about

My family moved here when I was a kid. The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 48, moved here 10 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Springfield and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Limited shopping options
3. The cultural scene situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for couples. average vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $50K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 11 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 3 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into running, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Used to live on the Oak Park side, now on the Fairview side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to New York it's excellent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Atlanta about 7 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The weather is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Sunset. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Houston about 13 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is solid.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
