What Central Square does better than anywhere else

So, I work in automotive and You can expect to pay around $906 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.
