Bought a house here in 2015 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is average in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a accountant who relocated here from Boston about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is underrated.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Sunset. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in marketing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
