OK so I grew up here but left for a while. The median home value here is around $203,800, which is actually reasonable. Household incomes average around $56,875 in Chalmette. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Springfield area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is cultural scene. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Springfield for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- The outdoor recreation scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Nightlife is limited
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
