Crime rate is something to consider -Chamblee sits at 1,071.5 per 100K. Rent is about $1,775/month for a decent place. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Is this normal for Chamblee?

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Denver it's tough.

Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the Pine Hills side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Dallas about 2 years ago. The main reasons were work and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is underrated.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Uptown for 15 years. Moved from New York for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
retail is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is average - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Limited high-paying job options. And food scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 8/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options
- The nightlife scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Urban sprawl is real
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- The healthcare scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is housing market. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.
