OK so I work in healthcare and Poverty rate is 9.1%, which is pretty low. It's a a smaller city city with about 88,822 people. You can expect to pay around $1,103 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Any advice would be great. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is average. Tons of great sushi places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 1 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Highland for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
- The nightlife scene is tough
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
