Crime rate is something to consider -Champaign sits at 930.4 per 100K. Household incomes average around $57,544 in Champaign. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is tough in most areas.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Bought a house here in 2019 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
