I've lived in Springfield for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of new development happening
- The housing market scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

Moved here from San Francisco about 10 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to weather but Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
